Weekend Trip

Nick and I took a little trip down to Kansas this past weekend to visit our friends Brandon and Sarah.  They had a baby boy 6 weeks ago that we were so excited to finally get to meet.  His name is Bode.

I was thrilled to get so much baby time. Bode is such a good baby!!

We left work a little early on Friday and took off for Kansas after dropping the girls off with Mike and Jean (Nick's parents).  We didn't get there till around 8:30 so Friday night we hung out at their house and talked for a few hours. 

Saturday we were hung around the house for most of the day as well.  Brandon and Sarah have there house up for sale so Nick and Brandon had a small little project to do in the morning, thus began the great debate... Can canned paint mold?  Sarah had opened the paint, without shaking, and saw mold.  The boys had a hard time believing her but for some reason would never go and look for themselves.  We checked all our sources... Jeeves, Google and Nedra (inside joke) and found mixed reviews. When the boys went to use the paint, instead of opening the can to verify, they shook the paint before opening so, of course, when they opened the paint, there was no mold so the debate continues. 

After breakfast, lunch and 1 1/2 Lifetime movies we decided it was time to shower and get ready for the day, or late afternoon by that time!  Sarah's parents had offered to watch Bode so we could go out for dinner so we took them up on their offer and drove to Atchison, where Sarah's parents live, and ate dinner at a nice restaurant there.  The weather was perfect that day! Not hot and not cold so we sat out on the patio for dinner.  The restaurant is on the Missouri River so we had great views, good company and they even had a live band.  After dinner we headed back to pick up Bode and stayed to chat for a while with Sarah's parents, then hit up McDonald's for ice cream on the way back to Leavenworth. 

We got up Sunday morning and got on the road so we could get back to the girls and see Nick's mom Jean for her birthday.  The girls stayed in Adel and had a great weekend being spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa Barrett.  They went to a movie, Ramona & Beazus, and got Cold Stone ice cream Friday night. Then they got to go shopping and play games on Saturday.

Thank you Mike and Jean for watching the girls and thank you Brandon and Sarah for letting us come met Bode and being such gracious hosts.  We all had a great weekend!
