We have had a lot going on during these last 2 weeks since we have been back from the honeymoon. Not everything was individually blog worthy so here is a quick recap on a few things we have been doing...
New Dryer
Nick and I have really want to get a new washer and dryer. Although what we have works, it's not efficient and the drying process takes far too long! For our Wedding Shower at work we asked for Sears gift cards so we could put that towards a purchase for a new washer and dryer. We decided we wanted the new front loading machines so we didn't have enough money for both the washer and the dryer so... we settled for the dryer at this time and Nick jokingly said he would get me the washer for our 1 year wedding anniversary! :)

We've had the dryer for 2 weeks now and I love it! It's so quick and makes it somewhat "fun" to do laundry.
Alison - Chorus Concert, ITBS & Lead Council
Alison had her final chorus concert at school. For a bunch of 6th graders, I think they do a wonderful job. They sound really good... much different than elementary chorus concerts. :)
Alison really didn't want to do chorus but her dad and I gave her the choice, but she had to do either band or chorus as we didn't feel she needed a study hall in 6th grade. She chose Chorus this year but she decided not to do it next year. I love, love, love to sing so it makes me sad that Alison doesn't want to be in chorus next year. As long as she tries it once we let it be a choice to continue or not. Sadly she doesn't want to continue but hopefully she will change her mind and want to join again in High School.
Alison is a very smart girl. She received her Iowa Test of Basic Skills test back and rocked it again, as usual. She scored above a 12th grade level in both Math, Science and Social Studies and 10th grade in Reading. She is also getting straight A's in all her classes, including Algebra. Her awesome ITBS scores allowed her to skip 6th & 7th grade math so she is taking Algebra this year and will take Geometry next year. She is also in AELP (Ankeny's Extended Learning Program). She has AELP every other day and really enjoys the work they do in class. They have worked on projects and presentations as well as debate this year.
Also, Alison was chosen by her teachers to be in Lead Council next year. Her class is over 600 students and only 30 get chosen for Lead Council so this is quite an honor for her.
We are so proud of her!
T-Ball
Ashley started T-Ball on May 8th. She is on the purple team and her team name is the Flyers.
Ashley really enjoys T-Ball. She played last year so she knows the ropes now. They do not keep score or play positions. It's quite funny actually. Someone hits the ball and all 9 or 10 girls run after the ball and sometimes push and fall over each other to get the ball first. Ashley is pretty quick and quite often is the one who ends up getting the ball.
They hit the ball and run to first base. Then the next person hits and they run to second and so on until everyone hits and everyone scores.
Getting ready to field the ball.

Nice swing!
On first base... helmets are a little big! :)
Game Night
Last weekend I invited my girlfriends and their spouses over for a game night. Game Night is something we use to do pretty regularly so it was nice to have the time to have everyone over and have a fun night together again.
We played Pass the Popcorn (a fun movie trivia game we got for our wedding) and my friend Stephanie's game Smart Ass.
Whenever we get together we are sure to have a good time. We laugh so hard our stomach's are sore the next day. It's the best time ever!

Chase's First Birthday
My cousin Erica, whose dad is my dad's brother, had a party for her son Chase at Person Park in West Des Moines. My calendar system failed me and we showed up at 1, when I thought it started, instead of the real start time at 12. Oops.
It was a beautiful day and we had a nice time at the party visiting with family.

The Birthday Boy!Justin & Katelyn's Engagement Party
Justin Wiig (Nick's friend from college and a long time roommate) and his fiance Katelyn had an engagement party at their house. Lots of our friends were there. Unfortunately I was slacking and didn't take any pictures to share, sorry about that.
Nick played bags with his friends and I socialized with some of the other wives. We haven't seen most of them since the wedding so it was nice to chat with them and catch up on everything. We also got to find out that Nick's friends, Chad and Anna, are having a baby!
We always enjoy our time with Nick's friends and this was no exception. It was a great party with lots of great food and company! I ate so much I felt sick and I hate to admit this but I weighed myself when I got home and it showed 4.6 pounds more than it had that morning! Funny and disgusting all at once. Ha!!

I was looking at Ashley's t-ball pics and was wondering if they were from the first game. Clearly not, she is wearing shorts!
